Annual Major General Frank H. Smoker, Jr. Foxhole Invitational
Thanks to the hard work and dedication of Sgt Mike Saphore (USA, Ret) and his fiancée, Ms. Jamie Kersey, the Pennsylvania National Guard Military Museum held its 9th Annual Major General Frank H. Smoker, Jr., Foxhole Invitational Golf Tournament on September 9, 2017. With the generous support of its sponsors and a full course of golfers who played in the tournament, the museum was able to raise nearly $10,000 this year. Thank you to everyone, and especially all of the volunteers, who helped to make this event such an overwhelming success! All proceeds from the event directly support the Pennsylvania National Guard Military Museum at Fort Indiantown Gap, which is dedicated to honoring the legacy and preserving the artifacts of the Pennsylvania National Guard.
Sgt Mike Saphore (USA, Ret) and his fiancee, Ms. Jamie Kersey, with Col Dave Smoker (USAF, Ret), Museum President.

The first fund raising golf tournament was held in 2009 with the purpose of helping to preserve our 1890s Victorian Range House, which became part of the museum complex, housing many of the National Guard’s marksmanship items and trophies of the day.
In 2010, we dedicated the annual tournament to the memory of Major General Frank H. Smoker, Jr., who passed away on July 16th, 2010. General Smoker served as president of the Pennsylvania National Guard Military Museum from 1985 to January 12, 2010. The museum was a labor of love for General Smoker and we are sure he will be keeping watch over it for eternity. General Smoker was a man of honor and we are proud to call him a forever friend of the museum.
