Major General Eugene P. Klynoot

Retired Major General Eugene P. Klynoot assumed duties as Deputy Commander, State Area Command, Pennsylvania National Guard June 1, 2001. As Deputy Commander, he was responsible for advising and assisting Pennsylvania’s Adjutant General in the administration of Army National Guard forces within the state. These activities included the training, preparedness and logistical support required to accomplish the federal and state missions of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard.

The General’s military career began in 1963. He was commissioned in 1965 following graduation from Pennsylvania National Guard’s Officer Candidate School. He served 13 years with the 1st Battalion, 109th Field Artillery. He was transferred to State Headquarters at Fort Indiantown Gap in 1976 and was subsequently assigned to the personnel office. In January 1984, he was named Director of Plans, Operations, Training and Military Support. From November 1984 until June 30, 1995, he served as Chief of Staff, Pennsylvania Department of Military Affairs
