Renovations to the Hanover National Guard Armory that expanded the facility took place in 2009. The facility houses Battery A of the 108th Field Artillery, which is part of the 56th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, and will be upgraded to meet new demands for equipment and training.
The renovation project brought the building - built in 1959 - up to modern building codes, plus install anti-terrorism requirements mandated by the federal government.
The $4,911,500 project, paid with federal money, is to be completed by Jan. 17 of 2010 and calls for a nearly 9,000-square-foot addition to be built on the north side of the Clearview Road facility. Also, a new maintenance training bay for vehicles and artillery will be built on the north side.
The existing 17,600 square feet of the building also will get a makeover, with offices and classrooms getting upgrades for a new computer-learning center for distance-learning classes, an "engagement skills trainer" will be installed.
